The Cobo Center, home of the International Auto Show was held this year in Detroit. American automakers have a very positive attitude this year. Many financial gurus are looking at Ford as the company to beat. Ford unveiled the next version of its popular Focus at this year’s show. It will be available in 2011. Production of this vehicle will take place in Michigan, later this year.
General Motors, who came out of a horrible 2009, used this auto show as an opportunity to turn their company around. Their “Urban Utility Vehicle”, the Granite, was introduced at this year’s auto show. They also tested the waters with the sporty Buick Regal GS. This muscle car may go into production, depending on consumer feedback.
The ever-famous Viper, in its fourth generation, was being displayed by Chrysler. This custom black and red car is still causing many car lovers to stop and stare. It has been around 18 years, but still is one of the most coveted American sports cars.
This year’s auto show was full of exciting vehicles and energy. Everyone in attendance seemed to have a feeling of optimism going into 2010. Americans have had a long love affair with their cars. The automakers are planning to rekindle this love in any way they can.
