One of the worst feelings in the world is looking in your rear view mirror and seeing those red and blue emergency lights flashing behind you. Most of the time we wonder what we did wrong? Then again there is the occasional, “Where did they come from” because we know we were speeding or didn’t stop at that stop sign! The list goes on and on because there are many things that you could have done wrong. Once the officer pulls you over and issues you a ticket, our day is instantly ruined, or is it? Why not take a stand for yourself? Don’t let that ticket ruin your day; fight that ticket!
The first thing you should do is review the ticket completely for any mistakes. Make sure the officer noted the proper time of the traffic stop, the exact location of the traffic stop, the speed you were clocked at, the traffic conditions at the time of the stop and the weather during the traffic stop. If there are any mistakes on the ticket you have been issued you should present this to the court on the date listed on your ticket. If you feel that you have done nothing wrong then consider hiring a lawyer to help with your case.
When fighting the ticket in court, dress appropriately for the appearance, be on time for the hearing, and do not get emotional when speaking with the judge. Hiring a lawyer might run you anywhere from $300-$1,500 for just one day of service, which is the court appearance. If you feel that you can have the ticket thrown out without the assistance of an attorney then you should do so, without wasting money.
