The launch of the all-new 2010 Toyota Prius is certainly advantageous in helping Toyota maintain its edge in the hybrid segment, even despite the additions of new entries from Honda, Ford, and others. But Toyota isn’t stopping there, as the automaker will soon be launching the new Auris hybrid as well.

As a small hatchback, the Toyota Auris will be competing with the likes of the Honda Civic and Fit as well as the Ford Focus. However, Toyota will not be stopping there says Toyota Service Louisville. In addition, the automaker is also diving into plug-in hybrids and already has a plug-in Prius currently under development.

Lastly, the Toyota IQ will also get a hybrid version. The Toyota IQ, which will be branded as a Scion model in the U.S. according to one dealer specializing in used Toyota San Diego, will feature extreme fuel efficiency thanks to its small size and light weight. By adding hybrid propulsion, expect the IQ to achieve stellar MPG ratings.

Toyota has faced plenty of fresh competition, particularly due to new models such as the new Honda Insight and the Ford Taurus hybrid. But perhaps the biggest threat in green technology now appears to be Nissan as Arizona Nissan dealer points out thanks to the introduction of the all-new LEAF electric car. With a full range of new hybrid offerings, perhaps Toyota will not have difficulty in maintaining an edge.
